C.S.I. - In Grave Danger
Holy.
Shit.
Spoilers behind the cut
From the previews everyone knew what was going to happen. Nicky was going to get abducted and buried alive, the team was going to rush to save him, and we were all going to get to see some Emmy-type emoting.
But, oh man, this, was so far beyond anything I was hoping for.
You can tell QT is such a huge fan of the show. All the in jokes, all the shout outs, all the little glimpses of continuity (mentioning Nick's stalker, Sam Braun, Greg's former wardrobe...), there's five years of history in this show, and Tarantino used it. God, stuff like that makes me happy.
And, the way he showed the relationships between all the CSIs, the lab techs, the coroners, even Ecklie. Yes! There are personalities, and friendships, and loyalties there, and I'm glad he made sure we saw that.
The scenes with Warrick. Man, when Nick shot out the light, the look on Gary Durden's face... and when he was freaking out with Cath, amazing. I'm sure there will be many lovely Nick/'Rick h/c fics coming out soon.
I think this ep finally confirms that George Eads is not just a pretty face. Boy can act his ass off. Terror, determination, hysterical screaming/crying. And, the ants. Oh, dear lord, the ants. That was what got me. Not the dog entrails, or the buried alive bit, or the fake autopsy (actually, I kinda liked that. "Your son had a good heart." *snerk*), or the cracking of the coffin. Nope, for me, it was the ants. *shudder*
Another way you can tell QT is a fan. He got Grissom to say "I want my guys back." Yes, make them put the team back together. Thank you, Quentin.
And, I've got a different take on the ending then some I've seen floating around out there. I think the last scene of the daughter means she's going to be back. Maybe Tarantino has plans to direct another ep in a year or two. Hey, he's willing to wait twenty years for Nikki and BeeBee to grow up to continue the Kill Bill saga.
All in all,
Best. Episode. Ever.
Shit.

Hey,
QT rocks. I can't wait for this one. Any keen Nick/Greg moments?
Ants, eh? Last time I sw Ant were on CSI, it was a Fire-Ant Swarm nesting in an oooold corpse- they frosted my inner Entomologist by having the Doc mentioning that he's hyper-allergic to all forms of Hymenoptera whilst he's wearing a Hazmat Suit. Then you're *dead*, Doc- Hazmat suit aren't insect-resistant!!
Gav!

Not really, but maybe I was too blinded by the Warrick!love. ;D
And, yeah, fire ants were used in this ep too. But they weren't trying to nest in a corpse, they were trying to nest in Nick! Poor little Texan.
One thing I can confirm, Nick's a screamer. *eg*

Hey,
Yeah, Fire Ants'll do that. Why am I surprised that even arthropods (other than me, natch) want Greg?!

-Heh. Greg and/or Eric could've told you that yonks ago!
Gav!
btw- of course, this episode totally ruins the "Greg kidnapped by Serial Killer" bunny I've had on the back-burner for six months!!
