Well, we all pretty much knew it. The way he was basically forgotten or regulated to the background. I almost wish he had been killed off, then we wouldn't have had to deal with darth!willow, and more self-rightous than normal Buffy.
He was relegated to the back ground a bit, but I've always liked the background characters (Xander, Graham, Boone, Jack McPhee, Parker Abrahms) so I have no problems there.
