I'm ready for Autumn now...
Aug. 19th, 2008 10:50 amWhat I did over summer vacation
1. Help foil a kidnapping plot.
My step-grandmother's youngest son and his harpy of a wife are feeling a pinch at the downturn of the market--possibly helped along by living waaaaay above their means including the yearly trips they take to Cancun/the Bahamas/Jamaica they put on their credit cards--so they've decided they want their inheritance early... like before she dies!
Their first volley was the whole 'trying to get her committed' thing back in May, and since then they've used the grandchildren-guilt card, the You're-going-to-make-your-youngest-son-have-a-stroke-from-stress! card, and finally her baby boy, after exhausting the screaming and yelling cards, told her that he was going to fly up to Virginia (and she could reimburse him for the plane ticket later), put her into her car, and drive her down to a waiting "retirement community" in Florida. Oh, and she wouldn't have to worry about having spending money for a while because as soon as they got to Florida he was going to sell her car for her, and he and harpy-wife were going to take care of aaaaalll of her finances.
Yeah.
Troops were marshaled, legal documents were rewritten, restraining orders were threatened, ammunition and alibis were offered, and I do believe he had tried to carry through with his threat he would have been met at the town limits by a mob complete with pitchforks.
2. Had close personal contact with a bat (again!).
3. Got two rabies booster shots.
4. Had an allergic reaction to the rabies booster shots.
5. Found out I'm being downsized at the end of September.
And...
6. Been on the lookout for a cougar that's been using our yard as a thoroughfare--I found a paw print the size of my freakin' fist, people!
Whew.
Okay, as you can probably tell, I haven't been the happiest of campers for the past couple of months, and rather than constantly complain and infect everyone with my bad moods I've been all anti-social.
But, lately, I don't know, I've seemed to reach a kind of level of zen about everything. I'm feeling all mellow-ish. Weird, right.
It could be that I'm growing as a person, or it might be my recent discovery of pear martinis (omgsooogood), irregardless, I'm gonna try and be less doomy&gloomy and be around more. I've missed you nutjobs. *sniff*
