Shutter Island
Feb. 24th, 2010 03:58 pmOkay, I have to admit, I'm usually a little leary of anything to do with Leonardo DiCaprio just because I still have flashbacks to when he was young and had floppy hair, and Kirk Cameron brought him home to live with the Seavers. Yes, I have sitcom issues, what of it?
Anyway, I'm so glad I was able to get around my prejudices because, holy crap. I love movies that do a good mindfuck, and this movie, did a good mindfuck.
Here's a question for those who have already seen it -
that DiCaprio's character was sane(ish) at the end, but he faked being 'Ted' again so he could get the lobotomy and not have to deal with the memories of his wife and children for the rest of his life? I don't know, but something about the way he said the "we're smarter than them" line just pinged for me.
Amazing film, either way.
