Ugh. I don't even... ugh.
Starting in September DC is scrapping all of the old titles and release 52 #1 issues. Most of the characters will still be there but many origin stories will be changed to "reflect the modern era".
From all I've seen over the past few weeks, it's amazing how much little hope I have for this not sucking. I mean, as a comic fan, you kind of expect to get dumped on by insane editorial decisions or writers hoping to "leave their mark" on an iconic character, but in the past you always had the rest of the universe to fall back on. This... from what I understand, sixty years of history is going to go down the drains because the people at DC want to make all their comics "more accessible for new readers". And, evidently, the readers who have been with them for decades can just go jump off a cliff or something.
Dude, with two other perfectly awesome Batgirls to choose from, they're un-paralyzing Barbara Gorden. Tim Drake (my Robin) might not be part of the Batclan anymore. Superman never married Lois Lane and is hooking up with Wonder Woman. And those are just the first details emerging. O_o
