Happy Belated New Year!
Jan. 4th, 2012 02:55 amUm... Someone might need to organize a rescue mission...
It seems the puppy is once again trying to cut off communication with the outside world. First she stripped the plastic coating off one of the DSL cords - repaired with electric tape. Then she chewed the power cord to the router - also repaired with electric tape, and still working despite the green sparks that came out of it. New Year's Eve she completely severed the phone cord that goes into the modem. I think she knows that we've been looking up training information on puppy blogs, and she doesn't like that one bit.
She's far too tenacious, scary smart, and she's tasted human blood (mine, btw, puppy teeth are freakin' sharp). Her only saving graces are that she's still adorable, and she seems to be teaching the older rescue dog how to play with toys. Cuteness abounds. Awful, diabolical cuteness. :/

Date: 2012-01-04 05:42 pm (UTC)I've already tried Bitter Apple, and Rosemary. Next step is either Vaseline or Vick's.
I thought pets were supposed to lower your blood pressure. ;P

Date: 2012-01-04 06:00 pm (UTC)No, actually they aren't. The last puppy I raised was this awesome, sweet, mellow little Lab-mix. Oh, she was still diabolical, but she was much more subtle about things and mostly used her evil powers for trying to steal human food. I got to have the joy of her company for almost fifteen years. :)
And, really, kittens can be just as bad. But at least dogs eventually learn to appear contrite. Cats just silently judge you for leaving destroyable things in their vicinity in the first place.
Puppies do need a lot of work, though - like human infants but with super strength and fangs. You might want to think about getting an older dog - one who's already done with the 'terrible twos'. A lot of times if you go to a shelter and explain to the people working there what you want, they'll be able to pick out some good candidates for you. :D

Date: 2012-01-04 07:27 pm (UTC)We volunteer at the local animal shelter, go for walks and play with the dogs but i'm not really strikt with them. I would like to take ASTA ( http://tierheim-limbach.homepage.t-online.de/Hunde/hunde-tierheim.htm ) but she is very afraid of my sons and kids in general.
The son wants a rhodesion ridgeback puppy, but i don't know. Its always said its terrible three with this race.

LOL. Yeah, I don't know if a dog that was bred to fight lions is the best choice for a cat family. ;D

Edit: Eww, the cat from your link looks scary. My cat is a pocket kitty , only 5 pounds, blind and 15 years- she is happy to take over my lap. :)
