Got a package from [livejournal.com profile] j_crew_guy yesterday...

IT'S A LIL' NIGHTWING!!! AND A LIL' XANDER!!! SO CUTE!!! And Nightinwg looks so serious, and Xander looks so snarky, and they are both so teh cute, and I am happy.

*ahem* Sorry, had to get that out. :D

I am so glad they came, because I needed something happy, I really really did.

In light of the recent events in New Orleans, and the government's inability to save people not in the right tax bracket, Mom has decided that we need a gun.

Me: ARE YOU INSANE?! We can barely get through making dinner without some kind of bloodshed or burned flesh. We'd end up shooting ourselves in the foot, if we're lucky.

Mom: We would take lessons and keep it in a drawer.

Me: Until the apocalypse?

Mom: Exactly.

Me: What about a nice taser, hmmm?

Mom: Aren't those illegal?

Me: If the countryside descends into anarchy, I really doubt that would matter.

We ended the conversation at an impasse. Mom still wants a gun, I'm now lobbying for a crossbow, just 'cause they're way cooler. *points to icon*

Oh, and [livejournal.com profile] wirrrn has finished my fic. It's a Tex/Kevin featuring Orlando... well, parts of Orlando. *eg*

Writing, or trying to.

Do you ever get in the middle of writing something, and you know where you want it to go, and you know how you want it to get there, but there doesn't seem to be any way in hell it's going to happen?

The dialogue, the characters, the scene -- nothing is working out the way I want it to. And I know you can't force these things, so I thought I would back off and see if something would happen naturally. It hasn't.

This isn't a pivotal scene, but it's a transitional scene, and it has to happen one way or another. Unless, I just skip over it all together? Hmmm. That might be too awkward, though. Argh.

Meanwhile, even though I'm stuck on this one fic, another one has just been pouring out. Yes, it's another VigOrli, but what's weird -- I mean, really, super freaky weird -- it's a fantasy. It's set in modern times, but it's got this huge fantastical element to it, like magic, and elves and faeries... I don't do stuff like that. Ever.

Maybe I'll throw in a couple zombies to make me feel better.
