So, my nine year-old TV (you've served me well, old friend) went out with a bang - or a really weird screechy sound and a cloud of smoke - and I've been spending the past who-knows-how-long looking up info about LEDs, and LCDs, and motion rates, and outputs, and different brands, and different shops, and different BLARGHSSFFFSES...

I'm feeling so nostalgic for the days when buying a new product didn't require researching the hell out of it first.

ETA I'm also feeling an overwhelming urge to tell some kids to get off my lawn.

Huh. Weird.

I've found these helpful in the past. Good luck!

Not sure how it's where you are, but here you usually get better worth for your money buying Philips above Samsung. Philips, Samsung and LG are the brands I would recommend.

The next this is...get a 3D tv. Even if you don't wanna use 3D in itself they do have the best image quality. And LCD is pretty much fading away, I would recommend a LED tv.

Okay.. I'm done. Sorry :P But I recently bought a new TV myself.. I also work in a home electronics store.

Thank you!

My child-of-the-80s brain still has trouble wrapping itself around 3D TVs.

Of course, my brain is also still trying to wrap itself around being able to stream movies directly to the TV, and me being able to lift the whole thing with one hand. ;)

*pets poor, overtaxed brain*

Haha, well, my first comment was pretty much "I don't give shit about 3d..." but after talking with several people on our TV department and them all saying the same, I caved in and bought one with it and the picture quality is fantastic. Seriously, Sam and Dean look hotter than usual, I promise :P

And don't look at me like that...it's not like the biggest perk of a big fancy TV is boys in high quality... *cough*

I appreciate good picture quality too - especially when it comes to certain hotasses, er people, um shows, yeah, that's it, shows - but my funding was pretty limited this go-around since the tv is the 3rd thing to break down this summer (the car's AC and the front porch being the other two /o\).

But I think that the next big tv that I actually save up to purchase will probably be a 3D. Unless 4Ds are out by then. ;D

Have you come up with a decision or did you want some free guidance with the new TV?

Thank you for the offer, but I already picked up a new one. I have to admit, I'm a little giddy about the whole thing; it's just so sleek, and pretty, and I kind of want to hug it. ;D
