There aren't that many characters in it, and, really, Clint's the only one in true peril. It's just trying to get him out of the true peril while still maintaining the sense of true peril that's a bit hard.
He could lose a chunk of flesh or two. Not any ~important bits, of course. I'm...failing to think of a body part he could lose that wouldn't be resented heartily by Phil, Steve, Natasha, baby agents with secret crushes, mere acquaintances...random passersby. Oh, and Clint!
