"The Australian dingo descends from domesticated dogs that people from Southeast Asia brought with them to Australia some 5,000 years ago. Genetic studies indicate that it is probably a matter of a single occasion and a very small number of dogs."

Well, that argument is hotly debated over here. I personally think that the Aboriginal people brought them over about 60,000 years ago, and they're actually descended from the Dhole.
Unfortunately, Dingoes are on the verge of extinction over here- they're interbreeding with feral domestic dogs and the Dingo part of them is in danger of being bred out within a decade.... Not many people care, because Farmers hate the poor things...
Gav!
