Oct. 16th, 2004 03:34 pmFeeling a bit better now. Heard from the Vet. Jen’s biopsy results came back negative. Turned out it was a heart attack. The vet said it was a defect that she was born with and that there was no way for anyone to know it was there. She was probably just running, or playing, and she dropped. Which is… good. In a way. Knowing it was natural and not the twisted intent of some budding sociopathic serial killer. I’m dealing. :)
Something that’s helping is the new kitten we got. I thought long and hard about how long I should wait, and even if I should get another cat at all.
The local pound doesn’t house cats, and the vets, though home to a number of unwanteds and strays, is about twenty minutes away and closes at five (doesn’t give a lot of wiggle room for people with, you know, jobs… grr), so Mom, Bear and I drove into Richmond to a PetsMart (All the cats and dogs there were rescued by local SPCAs). After getting my arm clawed by a bratty little thing that did not like the thought of being in a family with a largish dog, I decided on a four month old calico. She and her sister had been found living beside a dumpster, and it shows. She likes pepsi. I can no longer have an open glass of soda, unless I am constantly vigilant against keeping a little furry head out of it.
I’ve named her Lucy-Fur. Trust me, it fits.
She and Bear are getting along rather well. There have been a few episodes of hissing when Bear tries to play too rough, but they always touch noses after, which, as you can imagine, is very Awwww. *g* I’ll try to get pictures sometime this week.
So, getting back to the land of the living. Just in time for Halloween. Can’t belive it’s just in a couple of weeks. This year has gone by fast, and I always feel sooo old when I think things like that.
The Boss asked me what I was planning on doing for Halloween this year, since in the past I’ve been known to arrange my hair a certain way so the horns show through. I said I was thinking of putting a Bush/Cheney campaign sticker on my shirt and going as a Republican. He said he didn’t think I could pull it off. I’m still not sure whether that was meant as a compliment, or a challenge.

Date: 2004-10-19 09:36 am (UTC)When we keep all the doors open there's a straight shot from the dining room through the living room and back hallway and into the kitchen.
*jinglejinglejinglejinglejinglejinglejingleskidcrash!*
*jinglejinglejinglejinglejinglejinglejingleskidcrash!*
And, of course, my poor dog just looks at me and says 'what the hell did you bring into this house?'
-Dare I ask for a new Holidays on the Hellmouth Halloween fic? C'mon, if I'm actually finishing my Freddy vs Jason piece in time for it, you have to suffer for *your* art as well!!
Xandermuse has been waving to me across the dank, murky recesses of my brain, but there's no telling what, if anything, might come out of it. Fairly certain it would be a crossover, though. Hmm... Xander in Gothem. Xander in Bludhaven, Xander in Nightwing... uh, stopping now. *eg*
