Hey, future plot. What if, instead of killing him, Pheonix sent Cyclops into a different dimension. The shock causes his mutation to switch off allowing him to live as normal. Then, something happens, like say he comes into contact with a large quantity of radioactive meteor rock, and his powers flare up. But, luckily, there's someone else in his new dimension who knows what it feels like to have laser beams shoot out of his eyes.
