Woke up at 4ish this morning to go to the bathroom. Saw this fluttering at the ceiling. Thought, "Wow, that's a big moth." Noticed the leathery wings. Thought, "Wait, that's not a moth. Ah, shit."
Yes, there was a bat in my room.
Called the Health Department because the doctors doesn't open until 1pm on Wenesdays. Was told by the nurse, "Yeah, you're probably going to need to get rabies shots."
Still waiting to hear official word from a doctor before I trot off into the city. The first shot has to be given in an emergency room, and is going to cost about $130. Luckily the other SEVEN can be done at a Patient First and will only cost about $30 each. Yeah, I reeeally needed this right now.
And the real kicker? We haven't been able to find the damn bat!

Rabies is a very cunning virus. In suspension is saliva as it is, rather than blood, it aggravates you so you bite others and thus transmit the thing. I respect that sneaky inventiveness *g*
Nine shots spread out over almost a month. Five go in my arm, the rest... let's just say I had a wee bit of dificulty sitting yesterday.
-I don't have a problem with needles, but that's just oww! Still, it's better than having your brain turn into Duybya's...
You wouldn't happen to have this 'thing' for ole Billy, would you? ;)
